Learn to style the Direct Rate block’s label, fonts, colors, and borders to highlight your best rate in Triptease Messages.

Updated over a week ago

TL;DR

  • The Direct Rate block displays your best publicly available rate.

  • Use this in booking engine messages like Price Match or Price Check.

  • You can customize label text, font, color, spacing, and borders.

When to Use It

Use this block when you want to:

  • Show guests the lowest available direct rate based on their selected itinerary

  • Reinforce price transparency and value

  • Compare your rate to OTA pricing within a Price Match or Price Check message

How It Works

The Direct Rate block automatically pulls the lowest publicly available price based on the guest’s search on your booking engine.

It is only functional in booking engine messages and requires a guest itinerary to display data. When selected, the block will be highlighted and labeled Direct Rate so you know you're editing the correct element.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Select the Direct Rate Block

Click directly on the block that displays your direct rate. A purple outline and Direct Rate label will confirm the block is active.

2. Edit the Label and Font Settings

  • Label: Change the default text (e.g. "Direct Rate") to something that aligns with your tone or campaign

  • Font: Choose your desired typeface

  • Font color: Use a hex code or the color picker. Ensure good contrast with the background

  • Weight & Size: Control the thickness and size of the font to match other design elements

Note: This label is part of the block itself and doesn't require a separate text object.

3. Typography Controls

  • Letter spacing: Adjust the spacing between characters

  • Line height: Control vertical space between multiple lines of label text (if applicable)

4. Layout and Border Styling

  • Padding: Modify horizontal and vertical padding to space out the text within the block

  • Border: Adjust thickness and border color to draw attention or match brand guidelines

Pro Tips

  • Use a color that contrasts with the background container to make the rate stand out

  • Keep the label clear and concise—avoid overly promotional language

  • Consider placing the Direct Rate block above or next to the Price Comparison block to clearly highlight the value of booking direct.

  • Ensure the rate formatting is visually consistent with other pricing shown (e.g. Price Comparison block)

FAQs / Troubleshooting

Question: Why is the direct rate not showing?

Answer: Make sure you're previewing the message on the booking engine with a valid guest search—it won’t render outside that environment.

Q: Can I show multiple direct rate options (e.g. different rooms)?

A: No, the Direct Rate block only shows the lowest publicly available rate based on the selected itinerary.

Q: Can I rename the label to something else?

A: Yes! The "Label" field lets you change the visible text of the block.
