How Do I Recreate Existing Messages in the Upgraded Platform?

Learn to design messages with templates, drag-and-drop editing, and style tools in the upgraded Triptease Messages platform.

Updated this week

Quick Summary

Moving to the upgraded Triptease Messages platform unlocks new ways to design and customize your Triptease Messages. You can recreate your messages using ready-made templates and explore fresh layouts, all without disrupting your existing setup.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Start from the Campaign Manager

In New Messages everything you create lives within a campaign. You can create individual campaigns to align with specific marketing plans or business goals, or put all your messages in one campaign for easy management.

To create a campaign:

  • Go to your Campaign Manager from the navigation menu or the Classic Messages dashboard that you normally use.

  • Click Create Onsite Messages under Personalize your guest experience.

2. Choose a template to begin

New Messages comes with a library of Triptease-designed templates that help you get started fast.

Templates are grouped by theme to make it easier to find the one you want. A search bar is also available.

Tip: Starting with a template helps to save time and ensures your layout is structured correctly.

3. Open the Creative Builder

  • After selecting a template, click Use template.

Now you're ready to start customizing your message!

Tip: Check you’re editing the correct mode (Desktop or Mobile) using the toggle in the top bar.

4. Use drag-and-drop to add or rearrange content

Message are made up of containers, sections and blocks.

  • Containers: The main building block. Only 1 per message. Defines overall message size and some global settings. Everything else lives inside the container.

  • Sections: Areas that live inside the container. Define local settings (layout, spacing, color etc). Can be more than 1 in a container. Not essential but highly recommended for more flexible design.

  • Blocks: Your message content. Things like:

    • Text

    • Images or GIFs

    • OTA Price Comparison (Price Check)

    • Countdown Timers

    • Buttons

Use the drag and drop interface to move the sections and blocks in your template design, or add new ones to configure yourself.

Click on any element to customize it. The customization options you see will change according to the type of content you've selected.

Note: You’ll notice in the new creative builder that some features are not available yet and appear greyed out—for example, email capture and forms. Don’t worry—these will be available soon!

Tip: Many content types have Advanced Settings that are not shown by default. Click the button to see more options.

5. Customize styles (optional)

Styles are the global settings for your message Container. If you want to change any of them, click somewhere on the message so that the exterior is highlighted and a 'Container' label shows.

Then you can use the Styles tab to do things like:

  • Set background and border colors

  • Adjust size, orientation, and padding

  • Change corner curvature

  • Use the color dropper to match your hotel’s brand

You can also use the Styles tab to set container size - or just drag from a message corner to make it larger or smaller.

Tip: If you don’t see your Style changes, check whether other elements like sections are 'on top' of the container - they may have a different set-up (e.g. background color).

6. Configure placement (optional)

From Settings tab you can decide where on the screen your message should display, and configure which versions you want to use.

Position settings:

  • Choose one of 9 display zones, then refine using the numerical values

  • Choosing the center zone will always display a 'full screen' message with a dark, semi-transparent background.

  • The Z-index (layer depth) defines whether the message should be above or below other elements on your website. You may need some technical help to find the right z-index number

Tip: Setting the right z-index can help when users resize the screen and elements like buttons overlap. You can use the Developer Tools or Inspect options in your web browser to help you find the right z-index.

7. Choose device types (optional)

In New Messages you can use the Settings tab to decide exactly what you want to show on desktop and mobile, to reflect the different ways guests behave on different devices.

  • Choose whether you want your message to show on Desktop only, Mobile only, or both.

  • If you choose both, you can sync changes across versions manually or automatically with the Sync devices option

  • Many templates offer 2 different pre-made versions - one for mobile and one for desktop

Tip: Use the icons in the top-right corner to switch between Desktop and Mobile versions.

8. Manage languages (optional)

The Settings tab in New Messages can also automatically translate your message content into multiple languages to help you target different nationalities more effectively.

  • To add a language choose Manage languages

  • Choose a language from the dropdown menu and select Save

  • Your message is now available in all your chosen languages

  • Use the menu in the top-right to access and edit the different versions

9. Choose the hotel websites where your message displays

Once you've edited your message design and changed any settings you want to, you're almost ready to publish your message.

First, you just need to select which properties it relates to in the Campaign Setup screen.

Choose the properties that matter, then hit Continue.

Tip: Some things are unavailable in the Campaign Setup screen because this campaign is only about website personalization. Other starting points in the Campaign Manager give you more options.

10. Refine targeting, and publish

That's it. You've created your new message.

Now you can set any message-specific targeting then publish your message to your hotel websites - all with just a few more clicks.

FAQs / Troubleshooting

Question: Can I start from scratch?

Answer: You’ll always start with a template. If you prefer, you can delete all blocks to build your message from an empty layout.

Q: Why don’t my style changes show?

A: A section or block may be overriding container settings. Check element nesting.

Q: Why did my work disappear?

A: This usually happens if you navigate away without saving. Always click Save before switching modes or leaving the page.
