Overview
Not every problem a check reports means your code is broken. Triptease only suspends a code when a check finds a genuine failure — proof that the code did not discount the right rate by the right amount. When a check simply could not be completed, the code is left as it is. This keeps working codes live and only switches off the ones that would otherwise discount your rates incorrectly.
How it works
A code is suspended only when a check comes back as a genuine failure, such as the discount not applying, the wrong discount amount, or the code removing all availability.
A code is not suspended when Triptease could not actually judge the discount:
Could not reach your booking engine. A connection problem or a temporary error means the check could not run. This is not your code's fault, so the code is left alone.
No availability on those dates. If there are no bookable rates for the dates checked, there is nothing to compare, so the code keeps its current status.
The check did not apply. Some checks are skipped by design — for example, when your rate filters mean there is no matching rate to test. A skipped check is not a failure.
Two more things are worth knowing:
One failing stay suspends the code everywhere. Triptease checks several stays. If the code fails on even one of them, the whole code is suspended — it is not suspended for just those dates. A common cause is a longer, multi-night stay that has its own cheaper rate (such as a weekly rate, 7-night stay) that the promo code cannot discount.
Suspension reverses itself automatically. Once a code passes all its checks again, Triptease switches it back to LIVE without you having to do anything. A code you paused manually is never changed automatically — it stays paused until you set it live.
While a code is suspended, Price Match does not use it, so your direct rate will not be discounted with that code until it passes again.
Common questions
Q: A check reported an error, but my code is still LIVE. Why wasn't it suspended?
A: An error means Triptease could not complete the check — for example, your booking engine could not be reached — not that the discount is wrong. Only a genuine failure suspends a code, so a code that only hit errors stays as it was.
Q: My code passes on every short stay but is still suspended. How?
A: Triptease checks longer, multi-night stays too. If the code fails on one of those — often because a longer stay (e.g. 7-night stay) has its own cheaper rate the code cannot discount — the whole code is suspended, even though your one-night stays pass.
Q: Do I need to switch a suspended code back on myself?
A: No. Once the code passes all its checks again, Triptease sets it back to LIVE automatically. If you want to test it sooner, fix the cause in your booking engine and use Recheck.
Q: My code shows "no availability" for some dates. Is that a problem?
A: Not on its own. No availability means there were no bookable rates to check on those dates, so Triptease could not judge the code. It does not suspend the code.
