Hotels using the Data Marketing Platform (DMP) can identify and track two types of guests visiting the booking engine:

  1. Guests who abandoned their booking at the checkout page

  2. Guests who encountered no availability on the booking engine

Once you start tracking these guest types, you will be able to:

  • Manually download captured emails from 'Cart abandonment' and 'No availability' segments (DMP Core and Pro)

  • Automatically push emails to your selected CRM via Triptease integration (DMP Pro only)

  • Send Triptease automated 'Cart abandonment' and 'Back-in-stock' emails to encourage guests to make a direct booking (DMP Core and Pro with Email)

How to start tracking guests who have abandoned the booking journey on your website

  1. Go to the Audience Intelligence tab in the platform and click 'Guest Behavioural Data'

  2. Scroll down to find the sections labelled 'Cart abandonment recovery' and 'No availability recovery'

Cart abandonment recovery

  • If we support your booking engine, you can immediately begin tracking by clicking 'Track abandoned checkouts'

  • If your booking engine is not yet supported, you can register your interest

  • To track guests who abandoned checkout, you need to consent that Triptease can collect these legitimate interested emails to comply with data regulation rules. More information on how we comply with GDPR here

Once you start tracking you can then:

Track interested guests

  • To start tracking guests who have seen no availability on the booking engine, you need to set up an Email Capture message

  • This message appears when a guest is about to leave your website after seeing no availability, asking if they'd like to be notified when a room is back-in-stock

  • You can use the default Email Capture message or customize the text and image by clicking 'Customize message'

Once you start tracking you can then:

Cart abandonment and ‘Back-in-stock’ features are available to hoteliers using the Triptease Data Marketing Platform Core and Pro package. Learn more about the Triptease Data Marketing Platform here, and get in touch with the Triptease team today if you'd like access to this feature.
