This article explains how mobile rates work on Google metasearch through Triptease, who can access them, how they are configured, and what limitations to be aware of.
Overview
Mobile rates allow your hotel to offer device-specific pricing to guests searching on mobile through Google metasearch. Triptease surfaces these rates in Google metasearch auctions, so your mobile-specific direct rate competes effectively against OTA listings on that device type.
Mobile rates are configured at the hotel level using a rate name or rate code, in the same way member rates and CUG (closed user group) rates work today. This feature is available to hotels connected to Triptease via a supported API connection.
How it works
When a guest searches on a mobile device, Google metasearch runs a separate auction for mobile-optimized rates. Triptease passes your configured mobile rate into that auction so your direct price is eligible to appear alongside or above OTA rates for mobile searchers.
Mobile rates are set up by the Triptease team on your behalf. You provide the rate name or rate code from your booking engine, and Triptease maps this to your Google metasearch price feed at hotel level. This configuration sits alongside any existing member or CUG rate configurations you already have in place.
To get mobile rates configured for your hotel:
Confirm your hotel is connected to Triptease via a supported API connection. If you are unsure, contact your Customer Success Manager or email customersuccess@triptease.com.
Share your mobile rate name or rate code with the Triptease team. This is the identifier your booking engine uses for the mobile-specific rate.
The Triptease team will apply the configuration to your hotel-level metasearch price feed.
Once configured, Triptease will begin passing your mobile rate into Google metasearch auctions for mobile device searches.
Common questions
Q: Will mobile rates work with Price Match?
A: Not yet. When a mobile rate is present for a search itinerary, Price Match will not activate for that itinerary. This is a known limitation that Triptease is actively working to resolve. Q: How do I know if my hotel's connection type supports mobile rates?
A: Mobile rate support depends on your booking engine API connection type. Contact your Customer Success Manager or email customersuccess@triptease.com to confirm whether your connection is supported.
Q: Can I configure mobile rates myself in the Triptease platform?
A: No. Mobile rates are configured by the Triptease team on your behalf. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager with your mobile rate name or rate code to get started.
Q: Will mobile rates affect my other metasearch configurations, like member or CUG rates?
A: No. Mobile rates work alongside your existing member and CUG rate configurations and do not replace or interfere with them.
Q: Are mobile rates available on all metasearch channels, or just Google?
A: Currently, mobile rate support is available for Google metasearch only. Triptease plans to extend support to additional API connection types, and further expansion may follow.
