What is Triptease Labs and how do I join?

An introduction to Triptease Labs, how to get started and what to expect

What this article covers

This article explains what Triptease Labs is, how to join it, and how to try Experimental and Preview features in the Triptease platform.

Overview

Triptease Labs is a self-serve programme that lets you try new Triptease features early — before they're fully finished — and share your feedback directly with the product team. It's open to all Triptease customers at no additional cost, and you can join it yourself from within the platform. Joining gives you early access to features that are still in development, plus a direct way to help shape them.

How to join and use Triptease Labs

  1. Open the Labs page from your main navigation sidebar.

  2. Click Join Triptease Labs to opt in. This confirms you're happy to be contacted about experiments and to give feedback when asked. You need to join before you can switch on any feature.

  3. Browse the available features. Each one has a short description of what it does and what stage it's at, and some include a link to more information.

  4. Toggle on any feature you want to try. Most features can be switched on by any user; some require admin permissions to enable.

  5. Use the inline feedback option to tell the product team what you think, at any time.

All features are off by default — nothing is switched on automatically. Your choices apply only to you and don't change anything for other users on your account.

Preview vs Experimental features

Triptease Labs features fall into two categories:

  • Preview — stable enough to use and planned for general release. These are more developed, with fewer rough edges.

  • Experimental — early-stage ideas that are still being tested and may change, or never reach general release. Expect some parts not to work perfectly yet.

What to expect from Labs features

Labs features are in active development and may change or be removed at any time. They're provided on a best-effort basis with no specific support guarantee, and are covered by the Beta Features clause in your Terms & Conditions. You shouldn’t expect all feedback to be addressed, and bugs or issues may take longer than normal to fix.

You can switch any feature off, or leave the programme entirely, whenever you like. Triptease Labs is free to join, though some features may be charged for once they reach general release.

Turning a feature off or leaving Labs

You can toggle off any individual feature at any time from the Labs page. To leave the programme entirely, use the leave option on the Labs page. When you leave, all Labs features are disabled for your account.

Common questions

Q: What's the difference between Preview and Experimental features?
A: Preview features are stable and planned for general release. Experimental features are early-stage and may change or never make it to general release — they're ideas the product team is actively testing.

Q: Will trying a Labs feature affect anyone else on my account?
A: No. Labs features are enabled per user and are off by default. Your choices affect only you, unless another user on your account opts in too.

Q: Does Triptease Labs cost anything?
A: No — it's free to join. Some individual features may be charged for once they reach general release.

Q: Can I turn a feature off or leave the programme?
A: Yes, at any time. You can toggle off any individual feature, or leave Triptease Labs entirely.

Q: Do I need to be an admin to take part?
A: Any user can join Triptease Labs. Most features can be switched on by any user; some require admin permissions to enable.

Q: Where can I get help with a Labs feature?
A: Use the inline feedback option on the feature, or contact your Customer Success Manager or customersuccess@triptease.com.

Q: I cannot toggle on a feature, why?

A: Some features in Labs require admin-level permissions to enable. If the toggle is unavailable to you, ask an admin on your account to switch it on from their own Labs page. Any user can join Triptease Labs, but enabling specific experiments may be restricted to admins. See What are the different user permissions for the Triptease Platform? for more on permission levels.

Q: A Labs feature has stopped working or is behaving unexpectedly, what should I do?

A: Labs features are experimental and may break. If an issue with a Labs feature is stopping you from using the Triptease platform effectively, toggle the feature off from the Labs page to return to normal operation. If the issue is affecting your core platform experience outside of Labs, contact your Customer Success Manager or use the feedback mechanism in the Labs page.
