How to Target Specific Web Pages with Your Message

Learn how to show or hide Triptease messages on specific pages of your hotel website or booking engine using page targeting rules.

Updated over a week ago

Overview:

  • Show messages only on relevant pages (e.g. spa offers on spa pages)

  • Trigger messages on booking engine activity (e.g. confirmation, no availability)

  • Exclude pages from showing messages

  • Target across one or more hotel properties

How Page Targeting Works

There are two ways to target pages:

1. By Page URL

Target messages based on the page’s web address (URL). Choose from:

  • Is exactly – matches a full URL

  • Contains – matches part of a URL

  • Is not exactly – excludes a specific URL

  • Does not contain – excludes pages containing a word or phrase

✅ Use when you know the exact pages you want to include or exclude.

2. By Page Category

Use predefined booking engine page types:

  • Booking confirmation – when a guest completes a booking

  • Search – No availability – when no rooms are available

  • Search results – when room search results appear

✅ Great for targeting high-intent booking behavior.

3. Combine Rules with Groups

Use groups to apply multiple sets of rules:

  • Rules within a group follow AND logic (all must match)

  • Rules in separate groups follow OR logic (only one group needs to match)

✅ This gives you flexibility to combine URL and page category logic.

Step-by-Step: Set Up Page Targeting

  1. Open your message and click Refine Targeting

  2. Go to the Web Pages section

  3. Under “Where,” choose:

    • Property pages

    • Then: Includes all campaign properties

  4. Set up targeting:

    • Page URL

      • Tick the box and add one or more rules (e.g. “contains /spa”)

    • Page Category

      • Tick the box and select one or more categories (e.g. Booking confirmation)

  5. (Optional) Click Add another group to set alternate rule sets

  6. Click Confirm to save your changes

Pro Tips

  • Use "contains" for flexible matching (e.g. /spa, /spa-package)

  • Combine URL + Category to get ultra-specific (e.g. confirmation page for a certain room type)

  • Use exclusion rules to hide messages on irrelevant pages

  • Test your targeting in an incognito browser after publishing

It means the message will show on all hotels included in the campaign.

Can I preview the targeting before publishing?

You can’t preview it directly, but you can test it live in an incognito window after publishing.
